Executive Director/Vice President, Research
Position Summary
TellBio has a unique position for an exceptional individual with deep experience in early discovery in the field of oncology. This is an exciting opportunity to join a start-up biotechnology company to develop innovative medicines for patients with metastatic cancer. The Executive Director/Vice President will report to the CEO.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Lead early development of the TellBio organic pipeline and apply traditional and cutting-edge approaches to identify novel targets creatively and iteratively
- Develop innovative core platform strategy, implement operational plan, and construct capabilities to prioritize target programs and/or new indication efforts
- Design and execute relevant discovery, pre-clinical and toxicology studies to enable informed decisions leading to nomination of transformative development candidates
- Establish strong relationships with external partners and collaborate with internal team to ensure high quality execution and timely completion of early development studies
- Conduct, interrogate, and interpret primary analyses of pre-clinical datasets
- Author and review early development sections of regulatory documents and scientific/clinical publications, and present pre-clinical data at relevant scientific and investigator meetings on behalf of TellBio
Requirements
- Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, or related field
- Ten or more years of early oncology drug development experience in industry, including significant experience with generating pre-clinical data, IND/CTA submissions, and design of Phase 1 clinical studies
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines, requirements, as well as standards with the ability to develop strategies that support pre-clinical development of TellBio assets
- Understanding of the current competitive and regulatory landscape for novel targets in solid tumors/oncology
- Commendable track record of scientific acumen and remarkable emotional intelligence
- Experience in building, mentoring, motivating, and developing incredible research teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills with demonstrated success in leading projects and inspiring cross functional teams
- Proven ability to anticipate, navigate, creatively problem-solve, and lead in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Embodies patient centricity, rational risk-taking, integrity, grit, and mutual trust for team members
